Gematria Code Introduction Gematria is an ancient Hebrew practice of assigning numerical values to words and phrases. Each letter in the Hebrew alphabet has a corresponding numerical value, and Gematria uses this fact to find hidden meanings in words or explore their connections with other words or ideas. How it works In Gematria, every letter of the Hebrew alphabet corresponds to a number. The first ten letters are numbered 1-10, the next eight letters are numbered 20-90 by tens, and the last four letters are numbered 100-400 by hundreds. To calculate the value of a word or phrase, simply add up the numerical values of each individual letter. For example, "chai," which means "life," has two letters - chet (8) and yud (10) - so its gematria value is 18. Types of Gematrai Systems The Standard Gematrai: This is also known as Mispar Echad (single calculation method) since each letter corresponds to just one digit between one and nine. The Mispar Katan system: Here each digit greater than nine is further reduced into a single digit by adding them together consecutively until only single digits remain. The Atbash cypher replaces aleph with taf,tav with bet etc.in order that Aleph's position being at position #1 will be matched with tav's inverse position being #22 etc; Significance of Gematria Gematria serves as a tool for interpreting the biblical text. The reason that this practice is considered so important is that Jewish mystics pre-suppose that God hid messages in the Torah and these messages can be unveiled by revealing certain patterns or numerical values through Gematria.
